Welcome to another summer at Crystal Lake Resort. A few changes have
taken
place and this newsletter is the Hamlet Board's way of informing you.
* LANDFILL- Due to misuse at the landfill the Board has deemed it necessary
to gate and lock the
facility. We are now able to control
the access and the
material that is
being put there. Sask. Environment has
very stringent rules
with respect to Landfills and we are required to operate by
them.
We were not allowed
to burn the large pile of trees and lumber because there
was too much garbage
( mattresses, sofas, appliances, asphalt shingles, vinyl
siding, railroad
ties, etc...) Please only deposit
trees, lumber, and untreated
wood on this pile.
The landfill will be open -
Monday - 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Thursday-1.00 PM to 5.00 PM
The landfill will also be
manned during these hours. The lock
that was used
during the winter will be
removed and a different one in its place.
Access will
only be during the
listed hours or at the discretion of the operator. Charges
may apply after hours.
* GARBAGE PICK-UP - Residential garbage pick-up begins on May
31st.,
and will continue
every Monday until the 13th September.
Residents will be
required to have their
household garbage at curbside, in large
plastic bags
or boxes, by 8:30 AM. If you are leaving your garbage out
overnight it will
have to be in a metal or
plastic container to prevent animals from opening it.
* RECYCLE - Blue bins
have been placed at three locations around the lake for
the recycling of paper
and cardboard. Please use them. Other items for
recycle can be dropped off
at Sarcan depot in Canora.
* RV PARK and Campground:
As requested at the 2003 Annual Meeting a
committee has been formed to
make recommendations regarding the require-
ments for an RV park or
campground at Crystal Lake.
Committee members are:
Ed Sawchuk Holly
Masters
Bob Bellamy Randy Holfeld
Sandra Corbett
* MOSQUITO Control: During
the summer of 2003, with the threat of West
Nile disease, we
treated swamp and slough areas with an
environmently
friendly larvacide "vectobac". This controlled the mosquito population and also
made
it much more pleasant around the lake.
The board has approved the
aerial application again
this year.
* BEACH SAND: The
Hamlet Board would like to inform cabin owners that the
importing of sand or
material from other areas and placing it in the water is
forbidden. Sask. Environment is aware that this is
happening at Crystal Lake
and will be monitoring the
situation. You may be required to
remove it.
* HORSESHOE Pits: Thanks to the volunteer efforts of John Dunlop we now have
a regulation size horseshoe
pit situated on the Black Place public reserve. You
will
have to supply your own horseshoes.
Another pit will be situated near the
volleyball court this
summer.
* BUILDING PERMITS: A reminder that building permits are required for all
structures over 100 sq.
ft. Do not build until you have
approval.
* SUMMER activities:
Please check at the Boathouse for the Swimming Lesson
schedules and other
activities taking place at the Lake.
* ANNUAL
Meeting: The 2004 Annual Meeting will
be held at the Stenen Hall on
Sunday, 11th July 2004, at 10:30 AM. If you have concerns please attend.
